Title- The White Knight (22/9/1989)
Wow. An actually good episode? Well yes. I must admit, I’m a sucker for episodes where the hero has another turn up and show him up. This is just one such episode, and it actually elevates beyond simply being good by doing some things well. Link is actually likeable and we meet the King in all his Alzheimer’s induced glory.
The openings really good, with an actual explanation of why Gannon wants to conquer Hyrule, and a battle with an actual army and a giant monster.
You actually can feel sorry for Link in this episode, he’s never popular in this series and this episode does a good job of showing how he never seems to get anything out of saving Hyrule
It’s not all perfect of course, I mean the way Zelda fell for the White Knight was kinda silly as really he didn’t even show Link up much, he just took out the giant Octorok, whereas Link fought the whole army.
Overall actually one of the series best, lots of game related stuff and a good storyline.
